IThe place
Twenty-four acres on the southern Arizona wine trail, where the grassland stops and the Whetstone and Huachuca ranges stand up out of it. Mesquite and cottonwood across the property, a shallow ridge through the middle of it, and from that ridge a view that carries for miles.
Southern Arizona calls this country the Mountain Empire. Isolated peaks rise straight off the desert floor and hold their own weather, their own plants, their own animals. Sky islands. People have been crossing here for centuries, and the place still keeps most of what it knows to itself.
Chris and Tracy McCurry are building a winery and a craft distillery on that ridge. The wines and spirits will draw on what grows nearby, and each one will carry a short note on where it came from. The tasting room comes later, and it is being designed around the view rather than in spite of it.

We will write when there is
something worth reporting.
Progress on the build, the first bottles off the line, and the day the doors open. Nothing else, and not often.
